My wife's cousin was a multiple small business man in the Kamakura
area... small hotel, bowling alley, restaurant, etc. He also had fine
collection of Bizen pottery from the Momoyama period (1568 to 1603).
When I visited their place around 1975, he said that he could only
afford to buy one piece / yr. He had been collecting for well over a
decade. I have no idea what happened to his collection when he died,
whether is remained intact or was dispersed. They were the equal of
any Living National Treasure, and better than many since the
designation has become so politicized.
