Hey Folks,

So I finally got the chamber 3/4 full ...

... with mostly re-fires. There are some green bowls and vases here and there with a much more open setting except for the tail which I left as was so it would still restrict the heat flow out the stack. When I get the draft going I'll set the chimney cap to about 1/4-2/3 open and just add fuel and air and see what happens.

The front floor plain old pot shape pieces will get the side stacked on shells treatment because that area gets so hot and ashy useful cups or bowls just don't happen. The glazed ware deeper in the load doesn't get so much ash so all I need to do on some is polish with some 600 or 800 wet sand emery paper. I've been wondering how far I can go using lapidary grinding and polishing gear to smooth out the roughest areas of glaze right where a lip would go on a handled cup. I see why you folks make tea bowls without handles, there is usually at least one spot on the rim without an ash nasty so you can still drink out of it yet it looks like a rock with a hole scooped out.
