i have been looking at some of the plans in it and some of the numbers
seem way off. i assume it was in centimeters and when i convert most
of the figures, they work. some of the others are so far off-like 90"
under the hobs in a firebox. i can't figure it out. anyone know what i
am missing?
btw. the firebox is down save one or two courses. we'll start
rebuilding her tomorrow in the a.m....when it's about 13F! can't wait
for the sunshine!

Are you using "Laid Back Wood Firing"?
My copy, 3rd edition.
P.32 'Ember pit (below hobs) 9%
In this reference Steve is using a proportional method
for estimating volumes. The kiln chamber volume is
100%, the space below the hobs, (ember pit), is 9%.
