20 Year Old ART Stoneware Problem

Hay Folks,

Now I've decided to give that 50lbs. of ART Stoneware I found in the stash from my old Kalamazoo studio a try. It got started slacking down last February but I think I should have let one of the bags that still had a little moisture dry out completely before adding more water. When pulling it out of the bucket some spots were soft enough and other kinda of stiff. I wire cut and slammed it together a couple times before wedging. The roll around front cracked and I thought maybe it needed de-airing but after throwing a half dozen small pieces and one larger that crashed I think there might be an uneven distribution of moisture. I'd forgotten how groggy this stuff was but I thought they used silica sand. So here are the results to see if anyone can confirm my suspicions...
