At tonights meeting of our local art/craft co-op I was
discussing boxes with a woodworker of some skill.
The conversation ended with me promising to email some
pix of boxes suitable for bowls. I could have sworn I
had a stack of pictures on file, no go.
Hints &/or directions anyone?

Hard for our woodworkers to beat Wabiarts prices:

Dear des;

Plese go to www.wabiarts.com for information about the tradditionaol
Japanese presentation boxes. Chikako does a beautiful job organizing
the making of these. And there are directions for tying the ribbon,
preparing the wood for signing, etc. on the site. She has made all my
boxes for eight years now.

IF desired, I can send you pics of the different styles, including
chabako(tea in a box).

Cheers, Hank

Thanks heaps!
That's the site.
For the life of me couldn't remember.
Just checked out wabiarts, lovely stuff!
Hank, if you've extra pics to view,
that would be great.

Google took me on a delightful, meandering journey
through wabi-sabi, (I did download a bit, I'm easily
distracted). Hey! Look! A chicken!.
During the art/craft meeting, in the main display room,
my eyes were wandering. From the woodwork, to the pots,
to the textiles. Wood, clay, cloth.
Things that make you go...hmmm.

ps The woodworker has some nice 200mm wide slabs of
paulownia, just the right thickness for boxes...

Des;

Tonight, I will take some pics of the different boxes I order from
Chikako and put them up at the flickr site for viewing.

Cheers, Hank

My mother has a sewing business, so if anyone is interested in bags please let me know.  She orders kimono fabric from Japan also.
