Hay Folks,
No, I don't mean some weed from the sixties, but more than a few of the local stoners had told me about a couple different clay spots in town so I took Olof on a walk to find one at Strawberry Lake in Norway. My buddy Peter Hayes' Mom Ruth gave the land to the city for a park. Olof was a bit much to handle on a clay hunt so the sample I got was just a COLD handful I stuck in an Arbys sack, about 750g. I couldn't put my glove back on so we headed back to the truck and passed 3 elderly women with the sack, the dog, and my hand covered in redish brown clay. All I could say was "Gee, I wish they weren't so serious about cleaning up after my dog." Waha, I thought it was funny anyway...

I've been around there with Peter years ago to look at a geologic feature at the base of the ridge called an unconformity where the pre-Cambrian is uplifted and folded over the Cambrian. There also usat be a dolomite quarry along the ridge a few hundred yards NE under Doc's house up on the ridge. They say there is also a white clay there too but I think I'll need to take Peter to breakfast at Bernie's Back In and get him to show me exactly where it is. Besides, there is a 39 year old waitress there I got a hankering to 13th. step.
The sample slacked down nicely with only a little bit of organic matter or a stone with most all the clay going through my 200 mesh glaze screen. Some got slathered on a bowl right away and I think it will be a slip glaze or body colorant more than a refractory body component. I'll add to the album after this is posted because for some reason every time I use the SD card slot I have to restart the computer.
Later and stay in there eh!
