Hello

I'm a 37 year old life time rocker. I live in Cheshire with wife, 2
kids and various animals. I have been a subscriber to Classic Rock for
12months and enjoy (except when they go off the rails and review bands
like Keane!!) almost every issue. The first record I brought was
"another brick in the wall " 7" First album was Jailbreak by Thin
Lizzy. My first concert was Marillion at the Victoria Halls Hanley. My
first festival was Donnington 1985.

I drive my wife mad cus i dont throw anything music related away hence
a record collection of 1000+ LPs and over 1000 cds plus magazines,
ticket stubs concert programmes and over 250gb on my pc!

My favourite album is UFO Strangers In The Night
Favorite Song is No Quater Led Zep
Favourite Guitarist Rory Gallagher
Best Concert The Cult - Electric tour
Best Festival Reading 1987
Best memory getting a backstage pass to donnington

If your still awake thanks for reading and I look forward to chatting
with you.

Cheers

Welcome aboard Frisby. You are with the likeminded here. Even some
humour, sometimes funny humour ;)
.
Your notes are interesting, I am older than you but;
.
My favourite album is UFO Strangers In The Night - Hard to argue
against that one.
Favorite Song is No Quater Led Zep - Dont know it from song title,
probably heard it though (I am not a huge Zep fan).
Favourite Guitarist Rory Gallagher - Good shout, I have not heard that
much of him though.
Best Concert The Cult - Electric tour. - Me ?; Iron Maiden on the
Somewhere In Time Tour. Or Thin Lizzy on the Life Tour or Queensryche
on the Operation Mindcrime Tour.
Best Festival Reading 1987 - Me ? Knebworth - Deep Purple/Scorpions etc
Best memory getting a backstage pass to donnington - Me ?: I am so old,
you will just have to keep reading this group discussion board.
Welcome

I'm Jay - fan of British Rock (Leppard, Maiden, Saxon, Priest) and at
28, like everyone else, wishes I was born 10 years earlier.

I play bass and guitar but have no band at present - anyone near to
Bedford and fancy a jam?

Been subscribing to CR for 2 years.

Welcome aboard. Being 38, I was born ten years earlier. Don't worry - you
didn't miss a thing. It was all power cuts, Bay City Rollers and having to
go to school - the telly was quite good though (Clangers, Camberwick Green,
Fingerbobs etc) and there seemed to be much more custard for tea.

I posted this earlier but now that the thread is a sticky I'll post it
again. I'm Mike, 40 years
old, from the St. Louis area and love rock music. Favourite bands are
Magnum, Thunder, Rush,Saxon, Pink Cream 69 and All About Eve. I'm
recently retired from the Air Force so I've gotten to live in Italy,
Germany and England where I got to be exposed to many bands that most
of us Yanks would never hear about. I love talking about and finding
"new" bands or music. Feel free to IM me any time.

Hi I'm Sam.
I'm 22 (wish i was 10 years older as well). I'm a dj on a aor internet
station, and a media production student. I want to be a sound engineer
at live events when i graduate. My favourite bands are Led Zeppelin,
Cream, Pink Floyd, Boston, Deep Purple, Boston, Iron Maiden,Flaming
Lips, Nightwish and the stereophonics. favourite song is Ramble on by
led zep.I've been subscribed to cr since May and think it's the best
music mag out there. I love live music and have been going to the rock
and blues festival in Derbyshire for the past 4 years running. I'm on
one of the vids that Thunder filmed there. I'm always on the lookout
for new bands, wolfmother being my favourite new band of the year, and
check out an unsigned band called Headrush, they're pretty good. I'm
hoping to meet likeminded people who love good old fashioned rock
music, and hate all that indie/pop/emo crap at the moment.

Hi Sam

Take it from someone who is 10 year older (well, 12 actually but who's
counting?), you do NOT want to be 10 years older. 22 is a great age -
enjoy it.

And welcome to the group, looking forward to chatting with you

Howdy,

I'm Jon, but my alter ego is Brother JB, host of the Rock & Roll
Clubhouse on KRFC in Fort Collins, CO (and streaming worldwide at
krfcfm.org) It's a freeform rock & roll program, in which I'm likely
to play the Buzzcocks, Little Richard, Deep Purple, Gene Vincent and
Hanoi Rocks in the same set. You can view playlists and other stuff at
myspace.com/rockclubhouse

I'm 44 and originally from NYC, where I had the good fortune as a
teenager to see such legends at Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers and
the Ramones in their prime.

I love any kind of rock that kicks ass. Glam, punk, metal, garage
rock, whatever. Also soul. I used to host the soul show on teh
station and love Wilson Pickett, Otis, et. al.

My fave band of all time -- The Clash. They're also the best live band
I ever saw.
Fave album -- changes all the time. Right now, let's say "Raw Power"
by the Stooges
My current obsession - hair metal. I'm no rock snob...Faster Pussycat,
L.A. Guns and Cinderella put a big smile on my face. Too bad I waited
until I no longer had hair to discover the glories of hair bands.

im going to see the answer/roadstar gig in a couple of weeks which will
be my second time at the wedgewood rooms, i last saw danko jones and
the tokyo dragons .i live in west sussex about 35 miles away and are
much nearer for gigs at brighton but find it much easier to park
outside the venue for free then run the gauntlet with the parking
gestapo who still lurk behind bushes till 8pm bastards !.i work in
brighton everyday as a service engineer and those kind chaps "just
trying to make an honest living "are everywhere.
the last gig i saw was thunder/roadstar in january £12 in the local
ncp and no draught guinness in the event ,2.50 a bottle for that flat
origianal shite.

This looks like fun (though I'm not sure I qualify as being 'new'
anymore)...

I am Ben. Hello.

I live in Lincoln with two women and an annoying four year old girl.
They're not lesbians (at least I hope they're not because I'm supposed
to be marrying one of them at some stage). I spend most of my life
half-heartedly listening to meaningless conversations about make-up and
clothes. It's a sort of oestrogen hell of Wife Swap, How Clean Is Your
House, What Not To Wear and bewildering mood-swings. I have never seen
so many hygeine products in one bathroom and I spend most of the time
with Lego embedded in my knees.

As some of you may be aware, I work as an illustrator. The job
basically involves sitting in front of a computer drawing silly
pictures of Ozzy Osbourne. I have also accidentally become a writer.
Next year I'm hoping to become a world-famous movie star as I hear the
money's quite good (that is if I can get rid of the tits that have
pitched up on my upper torso recently ... damn you booze, damn you!).

I haven't got an iPod because I found out the price and nearly had a
stroke. I did buy a (possibly stolen) generic MP3 player off a man at
the market and now see myself at the vanguard of the digital revolution
having access to under 30 songs whenever the infernal machine decides
it's going to work (about 27% of the time). I do own a dog, however,
which is almost like owning an iPod if an iPod's principal function was
shitting on my carpet and farting violently (I can't see the sales
being quite so healthy if this is what iPods actually did - but it's
certainly something Apple might think about for their next model).

In common with a lot of men of my age I'm obsessed with Hitler. This
makes me easy to buy for when Christmas and birthdays come around
though terrifically boring to talk to in a pub when I climb aboard my
high-horse. Christmas is coming up again soon and I will genuinely
seeth if my damned family gets me the same sort of shit they got me
last year, none of which was Third Reich-related in the slightest. I
don't know about you, but I'm perfectly capable of buying my own socks
and underpants thankyou very much (and when I do I certainly don't buy
pants with a cartoon cock poking out of the fly bearing the legend
'ANYONE FOR TENNIS?!!!!'). As an act of vengeance I have this year
bought everyone I know plastic foldable vases. This will really get up
my grandfather's nose because the only thing the old bastard ever wants
is whiskey (actually, he looks a bit like Hitler and was once described
by a relative as 'a bit of a slippery customer').

I also once convinced a girl I was seeing (and who won £100,000 on a
scratchcard two days after we broke up and which I still have
nightmares about) that I had coined the phrase 'lethal injection'. To
be honest, the relationship never progressed much past sex.

Good evening.

ditto ..kind of ... I didn't even bother mentioning that since so few

Hi Im Bat, from Ireland, Ive been browsing this group for a long time,
so I might as well join and not be a stranger any more. My favourite
band is Thin Lizzy, I also like Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Ozzy,AC/DC,
Sabbath, Dio, Gallagher, Whitesnake, Steevy Ray Vaughan, Gary Moore,
etc etc and most Classic Rock, Metal and Blues .I dont like Indie
music, nor Black Metal and most extreme music. I play guitar in an
Irish band called Glyder who get the odd mention in Classic Rock
magazine. Im the eldest member of the band and the link to the past
since the rest of em are only chisslers. Ive been buying the mag for
years and its my favourite magazine. Im currently a Van driver to pay
the bills and play the odd covers gig. Ive stacks of CD's and some
Vinyl too. Im a typical rocker and live with my fiance , dog and cats
in the wicklow mountains. My first gig was Metallica , justice for all
tour and first record was the adventures of Thin Lizzy on cassette.

Hello

I'm a 40 year old (only just) rocker living in Stockport, near
Manchester. Single, no kids mainly because I was too busy going out in
my 20's & early 30's to bother settling down & now it's completely
passed me by. I'm hoping to hook up with like minded metalheads to rave
about my favourite pastime in the whole world.

I've been a CR subscriber for about 2 years but have read it for a lot
longer than that. I love it & am finding more amazing rock bands
because of it.

I have many favourite albums but up there are Magnum - On A
Storytellers Night, Deep Purple - Machine Head, Metallica - Master of
Puppets, Megadeth - Peace Sells, Rainbow - Rising, Ozzy - Blizzard of
Oz.
Favorite Song is Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers
Favourite Guitarist is Ritchie Blackmore
Best Concert - Velvet Revolver, Manchester Apollo 2005
Best Festival - Deep Purple The Return of the Knebworth Fayre
Favourite New Band - Mostly Autumn
Favourite book - The Dirt, Motley Crue

I don't get the chance to go to many concerts now or Jillys as any
mates I've got that were into metal have given up the cause &
abandonded the altar of rock n' roll. Maybe registering on here will
help change that.

Keep the faith

That was one of the best & worst days of my life. We were there from
about 7 in the morning & I had a steady trickle of rain going down the
back of my neck all day. Despite there being some great support bands
on that day I remember being so miserable that about 9 p.m. I said to
my mate "I don't care who we're waiting for, if they're not on in half
an hour I'm going home." Needless to say when Purple came on I forgot
about the rain & enjoyed a brilliant performance by my favourite band.

Glen,
I was at that Knebworth gig as well, lots of people and lots of rain. I
went on a motorbike, so it would be fair to say I was a little damp by
the end of it all !
.
Regarding endless playing of one album; I had Operation Mindcrime by
Queensryche in my car (at that time; late 1980's) for over a year, no
other album, just Operation Mindcrime. You know its funny, but, to this
day, I still hear different things in the album that I had not noticed
before. Play it on an alternative HiFi system and an additional sound,
or awareness, creeps out of the speakers. A great, superb, album.
And yes I do like Perfect Strangers and Blizzard of Ozz. Also the
Answer are great but I prefer the Tokyo Dragons or Glyder :). Roadstar
are also good but I have yet to hear the Hotel album.

OM2 is OK imho but not as good as OM1. Woody and I had a bit of an off-list
chat about it when it came out and, if I recall correctly, we decided it was
definitely a grower. Happy to do you a copy if you want one.

I am not new but I thought I'd introduce myself anyway! I'm only 23. I
feel older than I am though. Live w/ various cats & devoted Border
collie.

Favourite album at the moment is Headless Cross
Favourite song at the moment is Pain & Pleasure by Judas Priest
Favourite bands - Iron Maiden, Zep, Purple, Black Sabbath, Judas
Priest, Metallica, Gary Moore, GNR, Motorhead, Ozzy & Halford solo
......
Best Concert ~ Iron Maiden, National Ice Centre, Notts, 04/12/03
Best tribute gig ~ Boot-Led-Zeppelin, Cambridge Corn Exchange, 2006. I
have raved about it here.
Favourite book ~ Run To The Hills [yey]
White Line Fever, High Fidelity by Nick Hornby

Proud member of Iron Maiden FC, can say 'I like rock music' in about 3
languages, have been to less concerts than I would like due to things I
cannot change.

I also never throw anything away & have kept almost every issue of CR
since I started collecting it, although I only subscribed to it later.
I know exactly what you mean. A lot of people round my way were never
at the altar of Rock n Roll in the first place. They are starting to
lose the will to live!

Hello Everyone!

I'm not new but I've been away for a while. Had all sorts going on
outside this place, but that's all for another day.

I want to say a BIG, BIG HELLO and welcome to all the new folks!

And for those that know me, it's good to be back!

PS I love OM1 but OM2 has yet to grow on me - should I give it a few
more spins?

a new member, liemaster, emailed his intorduction to me direct
heres what he had to say:

I'm a late 40 something Prog Rock fan. I started listening to GOOD
ROCK music in the late 60's early 70's. In fact the very first I
remember was 'Paint It Black' by the Stones in 196... I was quite
lucky and was introduced to the likes of Floyd, Tull, Yes, Genesis,
Cream, Joe Cocker and the like whilst 'fagging' the Praefects rest room
at school (yes I am an ex-public school boy, but then again so are Phil
Collins etc...). Having carried many hundreds of casettes around the
world on numerous occassions, I am now very thankful for a) the MP3
player with 60 GB 's to record onto; b) napster etc and c) CD's. I now
have most of the music I know about and space to put a lot more on. I
have been buying CR for about 4 years now and it seems that the world
(prog) rock scene is really healthy at the moment and thanks to CR I am
being introduced to loads more.

How's it going folks?

I'm a 36 year old 'DC fan from over here in Derry, N. Ireland. I've
been a Rocker for over 20 years. 'DC weere my first love & my tastes
still lean towards bands of the classic 70's/80's era. I love Rainbow,
Black Crowes, Zeppelin, WASP, Queensryche among others.

I was at Donington back in '91 & was at my first Euro festival this
year, namely the Bang your Head festival in Germany.A fantastic
experience which I would recommend to anyone, I see that Thunder &
Nazereth have been added to next year's bill. Nice one.

My favourite album this year is TOOL's 10000 Days which up to a couple
of years ago I wouldn't have dreamed about listening to as I like
immediate music but in the past while I've started listening to
Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Thunderstone, Evergrey & other bands I
didn't know existed 3 years ago.

I also run a Rock/Metal website called www.imarocker.com & I present a
Rock Radio show here in Derry.

Right, I'm new to this and I pressed start a new topic, but that didnt
work so i'm trying reply instead...I'm Robyn, I'm 18 and I have no
faith in this music they call new, I love the old classics and long may
everyone who loves them too live in peace and musical harmony. Some of
the bands I like include; queen, led zep, aerosmith, whitesnake, new
york dolls, van halen, def leppard (woo sheffield!) and steve vai
amongst others. I'm lookin for some new friends who are actually
interested in this great music as all my mates like rubbish (ha) and
and and maybe someone to restore my faith in new music (?) and i dont
care about age/gender, I just want someone to talk with :D

Welcome Robyn,

You'll find lots to chat about here with the bands you have mentioned. Always nice to have more Whitesnake & Def Leppard fans aboard. I saw both of these bands this year. Whitesnake hear in Birmingham, and Def Leppard at the Hallam FM arena in Sheffield. Both were fantastic.

There are some newer bands who seem very popular on here. The Answer, Roadstar, and Glyder are particularly good in my opinion.

I HAVE AB-SO-LU-TE-LY NO IDEA HOW THIS GROUPS THING WORKS!
Got net goin' 'bout 2 weeks ago and i hope i finally found a way to
interact with some Rockers and Bangers!...

But where's me manners? (Am i just typping with myself?)
My name's Duarte, but call me Draco; i think it's easier for english
tongues... Yeah, ok... it's a fantasy thing...
I'm a 26 year old Rocker, Hard Rocker, Headbanger, Metalhead,
whatever!...
Basicly i love any music that's GOOD!... Then i worry 'bout the tag;
for filing purposes only.
My first musical experience that i'm proud of is this that my relatives
have told me:
when i was 3 years old, tops, i would pester my mum's bro, when he got
home from work,
to put on a little black plastic disc wich one would remove from a hard
papper case
that had a drawing of a sort of monster charging towards you... gettin'
goosebumps just remembering it...
Later i found out it was Nazareth's "Telegram" single... My uncle still
has it!...
Apparentely he'd put it on and i'd jump up and down on a chair!
But the one i really remember is bein' 'bout 4 or 5 years old and
leaning against the roomdoor of two of
my father's bros and hearing THE SOUNDS!... The memory i hold dearest
to my heart
is closing my eyes and hearing that "Gold Ballads" album by
Scorpions...!
Fuck!... I can't even begin to describe it... The sooouuuundsssss...
The mellllllooooooodyyyy... The guitars!....
I'm infected for Life with ROCK 'N' ROLL ! AND DAMN PROUD OF IT!

It's been a tough struggle through the years gettin' albums,
information, news, pictures, never mind goin' to shows...
See, i live in Madeira, it's an island...

I'm ramblin'...

Hope to trade ideas, have roaring debates,
stand by my points of view and being humbled by your wisdom...

"Be my friend, be my brother.
Be the pipper; play the call..."
or as Joey funnily sang:
"Pleased ta meet ya!..."
