The new album has leaked, so anyone who's into illegal downloading can
hear it already...(my mates say it's a decent album)
I don't do that sort of thing so will wait until the album is
out...but i have heard 3 songs from it and they are very promising

Good video and good song. I downloaded 3 tracks off iTunes. The Day
That Never Comes, Cyanide, & My Apocalypse and I have to say all 3 are
good. I'm looking forward to hearing the new songs live in 2 weeks. It
sounds like Metallica are back on form after the awful bollocks that
was St Anger.

I've listened to the whole album twice since Thursday and I think it's brilliant. Give it a few plays I think you'll find it a grower.

I have the album on pre-order and I for one am very excited.
Everything I have heard and read all points to a really good album. I
am more excited about this release than I have been for anything in a
long while! Probably since Rush announced their R30 tour.

I am just gutted that I have had to turn down a ticket for next
Monday's gig as I am elsewhere (can you beleive it!) - my wife owes me
BIG brownie points!

I downloaded mine off a torrent but I'm enjoying Death Magnetic so much I'm going to buy it anyway, can't wait for the tour next year. Do you think Metallica would play Scotland?

I’ve got a hooky download of this and I do get other stuff too, which
I would justify in a couple of ways. Firstly, I either tend to
download either stuff that I know I’ll like (eg the last Rush album)
but I’m getting early or stuff that I want to try out but would never
take a £10 gamble on. The first category I’ll buy when it comes out
anyway, and the second category I’ll usually end up buying if I like
it.

Secondly, when I look at the cds, vinyl and cassettes that are strewn
around almost every room of my house I’m pretty sure that over the
years I’ve done (and am still doing) my share. If sales are going
down then it’s other people who aren’t keeping their end up.

And I’ll throw this in for good measure too – buying things second
hand from shops or ebay contributes nothing to the artist either.

PS – Death Magnetic is really rather good.

It's a very old debate, but I do remember visiting my brother in the US a
few years back and the price of CDs over there was half the amount we were
paying. The rationale behind it at the time was that our country represented
a smaller market, ie less sales, so they charged us more.

If the things were sensibly priced in the first place then downloading would
still go on, but I think more people would be inclined to obtain their
copies legitimately.

I've downloaded dodgy copies of Journey's Revelation and Extreme's Saudades
De Rock, but then I bought both of them. I would rather do that and discard
what I don't want than spend money on a disc which I end up not liking,
which has very often been the case.

Excellent comments guys. I do not and will not down load.

My "dodgy CD" collection represents less than 0.3% of my overall
collection. Which represents one hellofa lot of financial contribution
on my part, so I'm with Mutley, it must be all you others ? lol

Fair point but at least it did when it was bought
originally .............
