I just installed 10.5 in my Powerbook G4 (1.67 GHz). So far I can't see much difference from 10.4 to 10.5 -- Not like 10.3 to 10.4.
I cannot get my airport to work at home. It sees the network, but I get a timeout. I am the admin on the DSL pouter (Four 100 MHz ethernet ports, plus 102.11g), and have tried all manner of router set-ups to get it to work. .Hardwire works fine. It worked great under 10.4. Any thoughts. I did what they said about a safe boot to correct but it did not work.
Second problem - I am trying to Entourage to work with the core Microsoft mail/calendar that OIT maintains. I am close. If I can get it to work, then I can use it to synce with my Nokia 9300. I have code to enable that sync, but it's a root item, and I did not want to tackle it. There might be a small amount of undergrad job funds for a MUG Mac expert to help me with Mac issues, as OIT won't touch Mac Problems. Call me if anyone can help.
BTW, by first Mac was a barebones 512 - that was a looooong time ago!!!
Thanks,

Unfortunately, 10.5 suffers from a slew of airport problems. These seem to have been mostly fixed (from what I have heard) for 10.5.2 with the recent Airport Update thingy (check Software Update), but I can't verify myself, as I never had any problems, using Airport on both a new iMac and an iBook G4 quite regularly.
If the problems persist through the updates, let me know, I've seen a few cute tweaks that may help.
If you need any other help with Mac, I'd be glad to help out where I can. Let me know of specific issues and I'll do what I can. I haven't found many issues I couldn't eventually solve, and chances are good that if something has broken for you, I've broken it myself at least twice (as I'm a bit of a "tinkerer").
Hope to hear from you soon.
