Clara Irazábal Workshop (May 23) and LASA Conference (May 23-26)

Dear all,

The Latin American Studies Association (LASA) conference is taking place in San Francisco next week.
In preparation for the event, the Berkeley-Stanford CityGroup and the Latin American Cities (LAC) working group
have joined forces to organize a workshop in Berkeley with Professor Clara Irazábal (GSAPP, Columbia University)
before the conference officially begins. Grad students interested in city planning in Latin America and city planning in
US Latina/o communities are welcome to attend:

Wednesday 23, 2012: pre-LASA workshop with Prof. Clara Irazábal
10am-Noon, Wurster Hall 305, UC Berkeley

10-11am. The first hour of her lecture will be devoted to two areas: 1) Planning in Latin America; and 2) Planning in Latina/o US. Participants will read a couple of Clara's articles and have commentary/questions ready for the discussion.
11am-Noon. For the second half of the morning we will review an upcoming piece of Prof. Irazábal tentatively called "Emancipatory Planning: Reviving Planning for the 21st Century."
