I would like to introduce a few people who are interested in sustainability to the Citizen Circles and P2PU communities.

- Chris Geith from Michigan State University (specifically the MSUglobal program), who was, in turn, introduced to me by Ahrash Bissell at Mozilla.  MSU offers a minor on sustainability based on a core class and then a student portfolio reviewed by faculty around core competency areas for sustainability - including such competencies as social justice, ecological integrity, and critical thinking (see attachment for the high-level list of competencies).  She is interested in spearheaded an effort to organize a P2PU School of Social Innovation (SoSI) course on sustainability, with the goal being to form 3-4 citizen circles of around 6 folks each, connected on P2PU but also meeting face-to-face, with each one working through one of those competency areas of their choosing.

Chris and I are also going to work on ways peers in those citizen circles, and even MSU faculty, might help each other review these competencies by the end of the course using existing grading criteria.

- Angeline Cione, Adam Siegel, Andrew Huynh, Kim Domptail, Jonathon Lemmond, and Brooke Yamakoshi - friends from DC with a passion for sustainability who have expressed interest in a sustainability citizen circle at various points.

I'll let you all do more detailed introductions if this is something you're interested in getting involved in!

When this gets going, I'll be happy to reach out to a wider group from my past life working in sustainability.

For those not on the citizen circles mailing list, feel free to join at: http://groups.google.com/group/citizencircles

Best,
Alan

Chris you should hook up with
Kathryn Bunn: http://p2pu.org/climate-resilient-cities-mar-2010
& John Kinch: http://p2pu.org/green-action-creating-sustainable-communities-mar-2010
to avoid replication of courses.

Hey Chris:

Awesome to see you here and finally get a chance to move our ideas on
peer reputation and accreditation forward. Stian will be thrilled as
well.

And nice to meet the others (virtually). Alan and the SoSI are doing
such awesome work, and we are excited to be a part of this growing
initiative.

Hi Philipp - yes, we can get something started here that can move us closer to what you, me, Stian and others have been envisioning. It's great to be in such good company with Citizen Circles to take this forward.

One of the big reasons I'm doing this is to get my "inner" artist out and integrated with my online learning work and my passion for local sustainable food systems. I haven''t quite figured it all out yet - but will be seeking feedback and ideas during the next couple of weeks from all of you.

Of the 8 domains in the MSU sustainability competencies, the aesthetics domain provides a platform for creative expression that can bring it all together. I'm excited about the possibilities!

Happy holidays to all!

- Chris
