I would love if CincyPy could have a Entry Level Programming / Python
meeting!

Well I don't think this is a good time for another beginner's meet up. We just recently had one at the beginning of the year and to be honest, it didn't provide any real value to the beginners. At the end of the day, a one to two hour talk won't teach you programming.

What IS a great value is this mailing list so I'm glad to see you've joined it on your own. By all means, feel free to ask any question you like and we'll be happy to help. If you are serious about wanting to learn to program, check out the MIT Open Lecture class on Computer Science. That and http://learnpythonthehardway.org/ are FREE resources and can teach you more than enough to get you into Python.

Are you interested in doing web related programming or just programming in general?

Just try something, and ask questions on here, or reddit or stackoverflow. You will get farther faster by trying and failing and later on succeeding :)

I  completed Learn Python the Hard Way earlier this month - it was a great introduction to the language and programming in general. I'll check out the MIT video next, thanks for the suggestion!

Hello from Brazil.

Let me first introduce my self.
My name is Sam and I'm a GDG(Google Developers Group) manager.
I start following your group because I'm seeking to get to know Python programmers from Cincinnati.

A few months ago I was introduced to a very nice initiative, Udacity.com.

Udacity.com is a website that agglutinates free Computer Science courses.
Theirs cs101 "Building a Search Engine" gently  walks the participant trough the Python programming language while building a very simple search engine.

You can check the list of courses and enroll to classes at: http://www.udacity.com/courses

I hope you like my tip.  :)

Cheers,
Sam
