Hi guys. Anyone know of a good hosting site that can do small projects? I'm thinking on the order of $10/mo.

I've found several highly scalable hosts that offer free hosting for small projects, which is great, but then when you jump to non-free it seems like they give you way more power than you need. DotCloud, for example, offers free and $100/mo but apparently nothing in between? https://www.dotcloud.com/pricing/

What do you guys use?

Sincerely,

I use web faction for my hosting.

I use heroku for all my personal stuff. A single web worker is free and adding a free memcache server, free DB - it's usually more than enough.

Of course once you start to go above and beyond, it's usually pretty pricey.

In the past I also used Rackspace Cloud to just have a cheap VPS.

I've been using webfaction for ages, and couldn't be happier with it. I wouldn't say it's simple though. You still kind of have to know how everything works.

This showed up on reddit today and it looks pretty damn sweet.

I've been investigating the same thing, and came across two
interesting websites if you're considering a budget VPS solution:

http://www.lowendbox.com/
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/

From there I found three vendors:

http://hostigation.com/
http://securedragon.net/
http://buyvm.net

buyvm was my preferred, but they are always out of stock...

webfaction, dreamhost, and linnode always seem to be recommended,
however.

I haven't gone through and read the whole thread, but what about slicehost/rackspace?

At 1.5/c hour that's something like 11 dollars a month.
