Celiac disease will be featured on the radio this Saturday, June 24.

Mary Beth Knight, host of Fit Revolution, is featuring celiac disease
from 10am until 11am on WCKY 1530AM. I was invited to be part of the
panel discussion, and we are having Dr. Jonathan Kushner call in and
she'll have a couple more people - perhaps a nutritionist and another
celiac. I think there will be a call in section of the show too.

Wow - two local media events in one week! Cincinnati must be starting
to take notice.

Karen,

Progresso has a cream of mushroom soup that is GF. You will have to adjust your recipes though because is not concentrated. I also have a cream of "whatever" soup recipe that you can change ingredients around on and make any flavored cream soup if you want it too.

I use the following banana bread recipe (Glutenfreeda) and we like it a lot:

1-1/3 cup gf flour (We used the Gluten Free Pantry’s Country French Bread Mix as a straight substitution for flour)
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup vegetable or canola oil
2/3 cup sugar
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking soda and powder. In a large bowl, beat together the oil and sugar. Add the flour mixture to the oil mixture and beat until blended. Gradually beat in eggs. Fold in bananas and pecans. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake for 1 hour, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing to cool on rack.

Question: Does Johnsonville offer GLUTEN FREE PRODUCTS

Answer: GLUTEN FREE PRODUCT LISTING BY CATEGORY
LINKS

JVL Fresh Grilling
Original Bratwurst
Cheddar Bratwurst
Hot ‘n Spicy Bratwurst
Honey & Garlic (Canada)
Savory Onion
Mild/Hot/Sweet Italian
Irish O’Garlic
Fresh Polish Sausage
3 lb. Party Pack (Original)
3 lb. Party Pack (Mild)

If it's not listed I would try it. They make Beer Brats also so barley might be an ingredient in the other ones also.

Hope you get to make it to some group events soon. Let us know if you need anything at all.

The Johnsonville website has a list of which of their products are gluten free.

I haven’t found a replacement for mushroom soup.

There are gluten-free breads at Kroger or Wild Oats if you really want toast.  I usually just use corn tortillas instead.

Karen, I use my old stand by banana bread recipe and just add in GF flour instead of reqular, you can use Bob Red Mills or make, a mix of flours from Bette Hagmans recipe books.  Happy baking, I eat toast all of the time, Have you tried Kinninick bread or fit for life bread?

Karen,
I like Kinnikinnick bread also.  http://www.kinnikinnick.com/  There is a list of stores that carry their food or you can order online.   They also have good  pizza crust and donuts.  The hamburger buns are "OK" if you are really craving a bun.  If you are as lazy as I am, you can make banana nut muffins by adding a smashed banana and 1/2 cup of walnuts to muffin mixes.  Gluten Free Pantry is pretty good,  1-2-3 Gluten Free has a muffin/quick bread mix that uses bananas in it as well.  http://www.123glutenfree.com/

Just wanted everyone to know, that I have found Health Valley Organic cream of mushroom  at Krogers on North Bend Road, down from Sam's club, in the organic section. I think we can have it. Ingredients are: organic mushrooms, organic cream, organic rice flour, carrot, onion, canola oil, mushroom concentrate, organic onion powder, organic parsley, organic thyme. I have used it in casseroles, and everyone likes it.                                                                                                                                                                          Thanks, Peggy

I use Kahn's all the time for GF - but only the "all beef" kind, not "wieners" or turkey, etc. The additives and fillers can be a problem. Other people have told me Oscar Meyer makes some that are GF and Ball Parks are too, but I haven't read labels on them specifically, so you'd have to check. Enjoy the 4th!!

When my daughter was diagnosed at Children's, we got a
huge notebook of gf products listed by name and
manufacturer. Ballpark hotdogs are fine, we bdo buy
the all beef though.
