Over the next two weeks, our leaders will negotiate the most important agreement of our time – one that must stop a climate catastrophe. But they will only aim as high as we demand. That's why on the weekend of December 12th people all over the world will gather at thousands of climate vigils in every corner of the planet to send a clear message: The World Wants a Real Deal! Please come and join with other Islanders for half an hour's quiet reflection at our very own Guernsey Candle Light Vigil to be held at the Forest Church between 6.00 - 6.30 pm on Saturday 12th December. The Reverend Linda Le Vasseur will lead with a few prayers for a successful deal at Copenhagen. Please bring a candle with you. If you would like to see all the thousands of Vigils worldwide go to: http://www.avaaz.org/en/real_deal_map |
| Wish I could be there, have no idea if anyone is even bothering in this coutnry, though I sent it to everyone I have on my emailing lis when Avaaz first sent me a notice saying they were planning on trying to organise this thing. --- On Fri, 11/12/09, Rosie Dorey <rosie...@cwgsy.net> wrote: |

I think it will take more than candles to shift the mind set of
Channel Islanders as consumers we appear to lap it all up disregarding
the effects that we have. Says he who needs to lose a few pounds/
stone.
