Hi all- noted at Pleinmont 26th May, can someone confirm which species of
Darter this is? Can't make my mind up..

Andy,

They're usually Common Darters but I'm stepping out of my comfort zone if it
hasn't got feathers...

Dear Andy & Jamie

The forward wing veins look quite red. I would guess S. fonscolombii which
sometimes invades from the south though S. striolatum is resident here.

Having reviewed the original image I'm inclined to agree with S.
fonscolombii on this specimen, as the veins do look red. For your records it
was just off the cliffpath at the end of the BBC field. The small panels at
the wingtips (pterostigmae?) are mostly pale with dark veins to the fore,
which I think may further confirm the identification.
