I've pushed an update to the gallery and the version number has
incremented, but when you click "update now" you keep the same
version.  When you uninstall and reinstall you get the old version.  I
know that Google likes to cache (I remember this problem from Google
Gadgets); how long does it take for

* new installers to get the new version
* existing users to get updated

Did you remember to publish your extension?

To just make sure; I went and hit the publish button again, didn't fix
it.  However, I did notice that two extensions updated near the same
time have now updated, so I guess the answer is about two hours for
new installs.

Note that simply uploading a new file won't automatically republish your
extension - you have to manually click the "publish" button in the
bottom-right hand corner of your extension admin page.  There's currently a
bug in the gallery which will increment your extension version number even
if you haven't published the new version, which trips up some people.

Otherwise, try clicking "unpublish" and then "publish" in the links next to
your extension on
https://chrome.google.com/extensions/developer/dashboardto see if that
triggers the update.
