Dear comrades

Let me be the first one to reply the mail I wrote to all of you. So this is what I came up with after giving it a deep thought:

Looking back:

tried to analyse the goals of CSB and categorised the activities into various heads so that the members can contribute wherever they want to. This helped dividing the responsibilities and a smoother working

…have been frequently talking to the school authorities, in synchronization with our speaker (Amrendra), to fill up the  gaps

… interviewed the “vidya vritti” applicants to find out if they deserve the scholarship. The final decision was made with the help of the faculty coordinators and the 3 step screening criteria designed by gopal mishra.

… visited the school on 3rd July with Shashank da and vikash as ambassaders of CSB. We met the CSB scholars and had a word with Hema mam and uncle.

… ensured that the CSB scholars get relevant utilities(dress, books) on time.

I am sure we have congratulated you for getting these things down from time to time, but once again - for achieving all this- I thank and congratulate you.

Looking ahead:

… I wish to involve the very old Chinmayans into CSB preferably who are in Bokaro. This will make our working easy. How should we go about this? The orkut community is not really helping us get people involved. Even other Chinmayaites who are on orkut, have not joined CSB. I porpose a physical event - a reunion of sorts. Me and Amarendra were discussing it sometime back. And I think thats one way by which we can tell people that we are alive and ticking.

But it will take a lot of effort on our part to get people to come to such an event.

Another way to promote CSB should be through the school itself. The school should atleast tell every alumni that such an organisation exists, and give out contact number, So that they can get in touch with us.

And, to get more people, we can ask ever one of our existing members to get his/her contacts in the loop. The thing is people should not look at us as "another orkut community". We need to tell them about our activities. If we can co-ordinate this "contact-drive" along with some event. Lets say a Chinmaya week being celebrated or something. If we give some incentive for people to convert their interest to join this alumni asociation into action immediately - that will be some achievement. Every ex-student would be interested in joining CSB, but (s)he might procastinate the actual act of joinng. We want to give that slight push by means of some thing that (s)he might be a part of.

…I wish to motivate more and more people group up under specific inchargeships so that we have soild teams all set  to work on specific areas. Nice idea. Though in most alumni associations - the kind of things that people do besides their work - there tend to be only a handful of people who do most of the work. I would love to have more people working with us, but my point is dont despair if we dont get enough hands.

…I want to organize a workshop in school wherein kids wud be made to realize their strengths. Every child is special in his or her own way and he/she should know that to choose the right career path. This will be the soul aim of the workshop. I will need the academic incharge’s full support for the same. I am very excited about it but don’t know at this moment how to go about it. Any suggestions? Wow
Mind blowing idea.

Though an implementation of the same might be difficult.

One thing that can be done, though is a week of frenzied activity. This would require a LOT of effort by a lot of people, but if we can pull that off, it would be superb.

So the plan is like this, during this one week, kids - lets say in 9th and 10th standard, are asked to perform a lot of activities like

1) Debate on various (age appropriate) topics.
2) Skit - writing, production, and acting all been done by the students would be the best idea. Maybe we could have a competition to write a story before the week, so that the week can be spent on getting the kids to work together.
3) A mental math quiz (There should be something in here for the geeks too, right?)
4) A dance - choreographed by a student/s.
5) A "Can you explain this" quiz- applying basic physics and chemistry to real life. (I love geeks, I admit. period).
6) One cross-country race
7) A "Draw & Paint your imagination"..

I will add more stuff later.

But does this resemble your idea? Its not very close to the idea, as it is, but it is the only implementable solution that comes to my mind right now.

…I need  to discuss with the fundraising in charge and the members whether we want to continue with only 2 scholarship or add up two more in the coming year? Are we ready to take up double the responsibility. If yes, where are the resources

I think getting more people involved would help in this.Lets see what the fund manager has to say about it.

….I  want  our association  to get  recognition from chinmaya mission, main branch, Mumbai  as the formal alumni association. It always helps to be affiliated to a larger body. Ya Very very important. It will add credibilty to our efforts. Btw, do we have to register somewhere for being a school alumni association? I think there would be a regulatory body that looks into this. So we should get registered to that too.
What do we need to get recognised from Mumbai?

Love
Manisha
