Kroger Cottage Cheese Gluten Alert

This was forwarded to me by the Phoenix children's group head. It's a
lot to look through, but it seems that Kroger (aka Fry's) brand
cottage cheese is currently experiencing a cross contamination issue
from barley. Currently, Kroger is telling customers who call to
inquire about gluten in a product to not eat its cottage cheese.
Here's what was in my email box:

She says
the cross contamination is coming from a different product that has
had its ingredients reformulated and is processed on the same line.
She says the possible cross contamination concern (it can change from
batch to batch) is on all of their cottage cheese items Fry's
produces. She does not know when the line situation might change. I
asked her to contact me when it does so I can get the word out to
you. I also let the dietician (Sarah) know that she can use us/our
list for getting out any future gluten related news and updates on
Fry's products.

In my opinion, this cross contamination issue with Fry's should be no
reason for concern with other manufacturers. Cross contamination on
a line can happen with any product (dairy or not) and with any
company. It's a fact of life we gf'ers live with. My thanks go to
both Sarah, the dietician, and Anne for sharing the information with
us. This is one of the things I love about our Yahoo group-that we
all help one another with important gf/Celiac info.
