Hello,

BossDB has 6 DBMS adapters.

Which ones are rock solid ?
Which ones are really used ?
Which one is used by Evan Miller ?
The Riak adapter is "experimental", what is the distance to "production ready" ?

Cheers

Hi Florent,

My impression is that the MongoDB and MySQL adapters get the most use.
The MySQL adapter had a bug in it until recently that caused errors if
there was no request in a 24 hour period, but that is fixed. I
personally use the Tyrant adapter, which is probably the least
popular. The Riak adapter is reliable but it is labeled "experimental"
because the find function is broken. I have been waiting in vain for a
knight in shining armor to fix it, but alas none has yet arisen out of
the ranks.

Thanks for your answer Evan.

I really think that the Erlang roots of Riak (and its power/ease of
use) makes it the perfect fit as BossDB adapter.
Do you have any idee why it's not more used than that ?

Cheers,

Florent

Probably because the adapter can't search. :)

Evan,

you missed out the excellent and most magnificently wonderful Mnesia adaptor - lol

Florent,

It was precisely the Erlang basis that caused me to write the adaptor for mnesia in the first place. I liked the fact that Mnesia does not not need to be installed - it is part of the rlang distribution.

The adaptor is pretty stable, and I have been using it on a live site for over a year, though I would not call it really "production quality" as I do not believe it has been battle hardened - i suspect that I am the only one using it. I wrote it at a time when I was learning Erlang and knew nothing about Mnesia, so I am pretty sure it would benefit from a thorough review.

It does the job.

Cheers,

Yes, I like it too.

And me being the only one who wants to use the Riak adapter !
We really need more users, CB is so great.

I'm using riak too. I did a very small patch in riak adapter because it doesn,t work a couple of months before. I will recheck if it is working yet and I will send you back during the weekend.

Cheers,

I think it's OK at this point but I don't use it so I might be wrong.
