Error at make in Chicagoboss-0.6.10

When I run make in CB directory I get the following:

$ make
=> ChicagoBoss-0.6.10 (compile)
make: ***[all] Error 1

If after this I run make app PROJECT=somename CB writes a new
directory ../somename. However, if I then run ./start-dev.sh I get a
message:

Crash dump was written to: erl_crash.dump
init terminating in do_boot()

...and magically, I'm back at th command prompt. Am I missing
something simple or is something broken?
