"This is a bit of first for me as I've never gone on an online forum
before to discuss an injury, but given the severity of what I've got
and the subsequent effect it has had upon my life I feel it is
something I just have to do. Anyway to the beginning. Around three
years or so ago, whilst weight-training ( as I'd been doing regularly
for six years up until that point ), I began to feel a pain someplace
in my shoulder blade, most often when pressing overhead. This continued

for some months, during which time I sought physiotherapy from one of
the gym instructors. It seemed to do the trick after a time and so
slowly, I worked back into my routine until in July 2003, a relatively
straightforward bench press resulted in a sharp pain around/beneath my
AC joint that has from that day forward stayed with me. Treatment with
the NHS started instantly, which resulted in surgery the year after
when convential physio failed to cure it, followed by more physio
afterwards ( which again offered no relief ), followed by another
surgical procedure this year ( which involved the removal of soft
tissue and approx half a centimetre off the end of my collar bone )
which again has done nothing. The symtoms I am actually suffering
remain the same and are as follows: a nigh-on persistent aching/burning

sensation in the back of my shoulder blade that emanates specifically
from within the suprascapular notch that only disappears when a similar

pain fires up beneath/within my AC joint ( neither ache occurs
together
). A follow-up to this is a sharp pinching sensation within the point
of
my shoulder whenever I lift my arm laterally although whenever I wake
up
first thing in the morning and the shoulder ache isn't half as strong,
the pinching is also nowhere near so pronounced. Additionally, I
experience a tickling sensation in the back of my hand and forearm.
The resultant fallout of the change this injury has wreaked with my
life has culminated in my splitting up with my fiance of four years
this week and I am to put it mildly frustrated and desperate as to what

else to do. Can anyone out there please advise me as to what path to
take here as my life is quite literally fallling apart and I just don't

know what to do for the best."
