I wrote this on another forum...
I use cables alot in my training and have a few different sets,
including the Ironmind and Lifeline cable sets.
They are both quality pieces of equipment with a few differences.
The Ironmind cables come with 5 surgical tubing cables held together
with a dowel.
They are good cables, not great, and in my experience tend to break
when doubled up to do leg work.
You can tie them back together for a shorter cable, or a longer cable
to have it "kick in" when getting to the lockout part of a pull.
They come with a nylon sheathe in case of breaks and that also helps
with the comfort when the cables are being stretched across a part of
your body, like your neck or back.
The sheathe does make it a bit of a pain to change cables and so it
takes a minute or two.
That may or may not be a big deal depending on your personal workout.
They come with heavy plastic handles which I like, as they are easy to
grip, and they can be slid out of the way in case you want to use a
softer grip, like if you are standing on them.
The Lifeline cables have changed over the last few years, judging by
their newer cables.
The newer ones are about 1-2 inches longer than they were a year or so
ago, making the pulls alot safer (in my opinion) than their shorter
ones that seemed like they would break if pulled too far apart. They
are made of rubber.
They are very easy to change, and for certian pulls they can be made
shorter (see Bud's video) and they still feel pretty safe, to me
anyway.
They have soft handles that are great for your feet, but I personally
prefer a harder handle.
It feels like the handles have to get all of the slack out of them
before the cables kick in.
They come in various resistances and can be combined to go up or down
in resistance.
The Ironmind cables are a bit expensive when sold as a set, but are
around $5.00 a piece sold individually.
The Lifeline are more reasonably priced and there are not any pulls
that you can do with one that you cannot do with the other.
Again, I have and use both, but for convience sake, as well as the
price, I would go for the Lifeline given the choice between the two,
espeically if this your first set of cables.

There is a link on Bud's site.
They are even more expensive than the Ironmind cables, but they are the
best handles around IMHO.
Hope that helps,
Joe
