Cherokee Chatter
By Becky Wilcox-Cockrum

The CIA from the Baptist Church will have their annual stew and chili supper on Saturday night at the church.  Everyone is invited.

The Aggies for Christ from Texas A&M University spent last week at Cherokee Home for Children.  They spent the mornings in Bible study with the staff and then went to work on campus.  In the afternoon they spent time with the children.  They attended the students basketball games and then had a devotional with the children.  On Wednesday evening they held the services at the Church of Christ.  They had some funny skits and then some more serious ones before the devotional.  This is an annual event for Cherokee Home for Children and a welcome one.

Franklin and Sandra Crain and some of Franklin's family members are in Las Vegas celebrating birthdays.
Kevin and Jaze Randolph spent the weekend with Richard and Jerry Randolph.
Michael, Leslie and Sabrina Nelson will be moving to Snyder, Texas.  Michael will be the Youth Minister at the church of Christ there.

LaVoyce Sellman had her first chemo treatment in Fort Worth last week.  Her next one is in February.
Charles Perry had six heart by-passes in Abilene today.  They said his heart was pumping good and he lost very little blood.  The doctor said that it looked very good.
Stephanie Bowden Russell had surgery on her foot last Thursday.  This is the fourth surgery on her foot.
Janane Nobles had spine surgery in San Antonio last week.  He is home and reports that he is doing really good.
Jane Randolph is doing well at this time.  She continues to have physical therapy in Fredericksburg.

We extend our sympathy to Fannie Proctor and family.  Glenn was laid to rest at the Fry Cemetery in the Burnet area last Friday.  Glenn was a good man and he will be missed.
Funeral services were held last Saturday for Mrs. M.J. (Jan) Kuykendall at the Church of Christ.  M.J. and Jan had moved back to Tennessee.  We really enjoyed getting to see their children.  M.J. was not able to make the trip.
Funeral services for John Westbrook was held in Brady last Sunday.  John was from San Saba but he had many friends from Cherokee.  He was a great Cherokee Indian fan.  He will be missed.

Until next week, that's the news!
