Monday: 3:30 P.M. “Illuminating Judaism—The Graphic Works of David Moss"
David Moss fell in love with Hebrew calligraphy in 1968 and has explored the magic of the Hebrew letters ever since. He revived the art of the hand-made Ketubah (Jewish marriage contract), created a major Haggadah (Passover Ritual book) and created scores of graphic works and artist books. Moss will lead us through his constantly expanding oeuvre, taking us on whirlwind tour of how he gives fresh creative and aesthetic life to these centuries-old ritual items.

Though perhaps best known for his graphic and calligraphic works, David Moss has constantly explored other media in his lifelong quest to unleash the power of the arts to enhance Jewish life. In this session David will demonstrate how he expanded his art into three-dimensional works and beyond. Whether envisioning The Tree of Life Shtender (prayer/study stand), creating installation art, providing the Jewish soul to institutional buildings, innovating fresh educational programs, or conceiving of a vast Garden of Jewish Exploration, his proven process of thoughtful study and research into traditional sources, surprising creative expression and a deep commitment to perfect craftsmanship characterizes the multiple worlds he brings to life.
