No slam intended, but I think you are overestimating the general awareness of
this topic if you believe that familiarity with "safe" procedures for lost dog
postings is widely accepted.

Friday night one of our rescue dogs escaped from her new adoptive family.
She had been there 4 hours before she bolted. She has a leash and collar
on, as well as a GA rabies tag and microchip tag.

I have a nine year old Aussie. She is much over weight as we are in need of some where to walk where there are not joggers, bikers etc. This Aussie is a real herding dog by nature and anything that runs she is going after it. Sounds vicious. A truck ran over her leg when she was young as the OWNER was STUPID

Yesterday on my way home from work, I saw a black and white dog in the
middle of the road. I was going to leave her but after watching two cars
slam on breaks to avoid hitting her, I decided to pick her up. I knocked
on several doors and no one had ever seen her before.
