Found black lab-looking puppy in Asbury community

This morning, after seeing a black dog standing and sniffing at the
corner of 15-501/87 and Walter Bright Rd., in southeastern Chatham
County, we pulled over to check the collar. We had seen this same
puppy yesterday also and it seemed to be misplaced. It was extremely
friendly but scared and shaking, with its tail wagging at the same
time. I gave it some of my breakfast and it was ravenously hungry,
though it does not seem emaciated at all. It seems to be a lab or lab
mix, all black, and maybe four or five months old, I'd guess, but it
is possible it is an adult and just looks small. He (it is a boy) has
on a John Deer collar but no identification. I realize that out here
in the country lots of folks let their dogs run free, but this dog was
going to get hit by a car and does not seem to know where to go. He
got in the car without much fuss and we now have the dog in our kennel
and is currently running in our fenced yard, not very far from where
we found him. If you know of anyone missing a very sweet dog, please
have them contact Beth at 919-323-6146 or email me at
beth...@windstream.net. We will hold the dog for a couple of days
then take him to the animal shelter. We have already contacted the
Chatham County animal shelter and other shelter and Lee County's as
well. The Pittsboro vets have all been notified also. I will take
him with me on Thursday to the vet when I was going anyway and get him
scanned for a chip, then probably drop him at the shelter. I hope we
can find his home.
