Now accepting applications for Leadership Chatham class of 2009 - 10.

Leadership Chatham is a signature program of the Chatham Chamber of
Commerce. The Chamber
is dedicated to supporting and promoting business and to helping mold
Chatham County into a
place that everyone is proud to do business and call home.  The program
takes you on a journey
through the social, cultural, political and economic makeup of your
community.  Access to existing
community experts yields firsthand knowledge of critical issues facing
Chatham County.

As you already know, our leaders greatly influence the success of Chatham
County. Through your
hands on experiences in the Leadership Chatham program you will gain
invaluable knowledge
and skills that will help you to become one of those influential community
leaders.

There will be a maximum of 25 participants accepted into the Leadership
Chatham program.
Participants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis and have
varied experience and
involvement in the business community.

Your tuition includes nine monthly day-long sessions with lunch provided,
tour transportation,
and graduation.  Sessions begin in September and end in May of the following
year.  Graduation
is held in June.

Dear Mr Marley,

I take the phrase "hot air" to mean empty, confused or exaggerated
talk having no meaning or substance.

Please tell us, what of my essay on nuclear costs was empty, confused,
or exaggerated?

Chatham County's and America's economies are in dire condition.  Our
health and environment are clearly suffering from our over-reliance
upon fossil fuels.  Our national and state trade deficits are
worsening because we spend so much on fossil fuels (NC spends $9
billion per year on foreign petroleum, $2 billion per year on coal,
10% of which comes from places like Venezuela and Columbia).

What, sir, do you propose we do to re-build our economies?
