I am looking to sign up to a charity trek in india (starting and ending
in Dharamsala). Ideally I would like the funds I raise to go towards a
charity that benefits the local communties, preferably along a
sustainable agriculture or envrironmental theme. The charity must be
UK registered.
I am having difficulty finding such a charity, does anyone have any

 Michael,
Will the results of your survey be made public? The organizations I
volunteer with have put the capability in place to accept donations
online. In fact, for one major fundraising event that is the preferred
approach. However, there are several contributers that do not want to
donate in that way. We respect that and make it easy for them as well.

I'm a member of a labor union with several hundred members in the
Katrina impact area. We would like to locate those members and assist
them with our own relief fund. Obviously we are not experts in
disaster relief, so my question is: are there any reputable disaster
relief groups that would contract to carry out such a job?

Although Charitable giving is on the increase this appeal
saw unprecedented amounts of donations and people motivated to give
either money or time.
