Dear Marius,

In a few months, I will be leaving Japan, and heading back home to
Jordan, where I don't have any access to any tea tools except online
shopping.

I am planning to start a tea community in my country, and would be
teaching beginners.

I need your advice on a check list for my starter's kit as a teacher
for beginners, and another note on what I better get for myself, that
can't be bought online from outside Japan, or might be a lot cheaper
to get directly from here.

Many thanks,

Ahmad

Hi

It is nice to hear that your planing to spread knowledge of Tea. Starting a community is always challanging, but can be very rewarding. There are very few good shops to buy Tea utensils online (at least that I know of). Zuiun have a large web page, but only in Japanese. I would recomend that you either gett all your going to neead when your still there, or make arrangements with a shop or a person in Japan to send you things as you need them. Matcha can be easily ordered through the web.

Best of luck to you!!

Marius

Thanks a lot for the shop's name. I am OK with Japanese sites, my only
concern is whether they ship abroad or not. The Zuiun one ships
overseas.

If you have any other good ones you know about, I would appreciate it
if you listed them here.

I am planning to spend my last few weeks in Kyoto, and establish any
useful contacts with shop owners there. Buy whatever I could afford
with my remaining budget, and go back home.

Thanks again,
Ahmad

Ahmad, just an idea, you might try hunting through the markets for
some budget utensils. Kobo-san is at Toji temple on the 21st of each
month and Tenjin-san is at Kitano-Tenmangu shrine on the 25th. (The
Toji market is likelier to have more dougu, if you can only get to one
of these two.)

Thanks for the advice. I will be hunting for goods, and will take a
note of their dates.

No kidding, hit those markets hard and early in the morning. Never
know what you might find.
