Hi All,
I have a client that is migrating a site from CF5 to CF9. They have asked for an estimate for code fixes due to the CF version changes. I have searched around, but don’t see much related specifically to this version jump. I know once they have everything installed, I can run the code analyzer, but is there any way to tell what kinds of issues I might run into before hand?
The site is largely “static”, using CF for things like cfincludes for common navigation, etc., it uses Application.cfm, not cfc, and has a few functions that interact with a database that are pretty basic – news releases, some registration forms, a little bit of content management with file uploads… (images & pdfs). Really old stuff…
Any idea what kinds of issues I’ll run into with the migration?
Thanks,
Kristin
I’d just take a box, load it with the developer license, load the client tree and try it. Or at least try the code analyzer there and see what it says.
I do recall a change or two in the application.cfm needed either between 5 and 6 or it was 6 and 7. But they became obvious when testing and easy to fix.

Thanks, I guess I’ll go with that and just give a rough estimate on what changes might be needed, and then revise it based on the code analyzer results.
Thanks!
Kristin
