Hey everyone,

We (the guys here at daemon.com.au) are thinking about forking
cftextmate and trying to push it's development froward a bit faster
(the last blog entry about cftextmate was about a year ago - http://www.cftextmate.com/
). However, we don't want to step on anyones toes so I wanted to
check to see how people feel about that. We absolutely love what has
been done, but the main reason we want to fork is so we can control
releases, get commit access, implement feature additions, change some
of the built in snippets, etc.

I have quite a bit of things I'd like to add / fix, and I think the
project might gain a bit of momentum since I'll do a bit of active
development in the near future on the plug in. I just don't want to
pull a _ _ _ _ on anyone.

Thoughts?

Cheer,
rob

You have my vote. I'd love to see some progress.

I would like to see some active progress as well.

I see no issue with a fork at all. Especially since all of us are
making our own additions and udpates to our own bundles but none of it
ever gets into the core.

Couldn't agree more - a warm welcome to the excelent Daemon boys, and
a very grateful thanks for your contribution to the project.

It would be good to keep this here even if you want to branch the
project. I'll dig through my mail and find out if I have SVN access.
I'm pretty sure that I do and I'd be happy to try and get anyone
access if they would like to work on the project.

The real reason for a lack of development is due to the lack of
traffic that this list gets. Maybe we can build some community
interest and get more people involved however, it seems that most use
the bundle as reference point and then start customizing it to meet
their own need / style since editing bundles is pretty easy stuff.

Rob,

Instead of forking the project, why don't you lead the development of CFTextmate?  I can give you full FTP rights to cftextmate.com, as well as administrator rights to the blog.  I can also give you access to the bundle repository so may commit changes.

What do you think?

That would be perfect!  It would save from having to re-setup the mailing lists, website, etc.   And it could keep the appropriate name :)

Okay, sounds good, I'll get you all setup later this evening.

Thanks for your help, I'm stuck in a .NET world right now so my involvement in the project has been very limited.
