School TV

Hi

I am doing a "school tv" with a group of 20 +/- secondary school students - starting in September. 

We will have 2 hours to work on it every Wednesday and will hopefully produce 5-10 minutes video which will be accessible on the school website. ICT is compulsory in the school so students are quite computer literate and cover digital storytelling, website design, scratch and EDCL-like stuff. We will also have ipads from this September. 

I would be interesting in any ideas/suggestions people might have i.e. things that might/have worked, software, links to school websites etc. 

I remember a CESI workshop a few years ago where someone demonstrated a green screen software (???).

If you have a Mac in the school iMovie has Green Screen features built in and its very easy to use. The same feature is not on the iPad as far as I know though.

Hi Eamonn,

That could well have been me! I demonstrated a piece of green screen software from a company called Serious Magic at a CESI meet in Dublin many, many moons ago. Serious Magic were bought out by Adobe; unfortunately Adobe have discontinued the product in June of this year. I still have the 30-day trial file somewhere (All 6.5 Gb of it!).
The program was used as part of an NCTE project TY-TV --- there is a full schedule of project lesson outline on the NCTE website however the actual notes in doc and pdf format are no longer linked!!

I probably still have the lessons in e-format somewhere so if you want them let me know and I'll search for them!

Hi All,
Some time ago I was looking for information/resources on starting a school TV. John linked me to http://www.ncte.ie/tytv/index.html - a NCTE TY-TV project. However, the notes in doc and pdf format are no longer active. I was wondering if anyone out there might have saved/downloaded them - I´d greatly appreciate them. I have looked at fis.ie but the resources are designed with primary not secondary school in mind.
