Thanks for sharing this, John - great to get feedback from a pupil like this. He should get into writing reviews, certainly does it well!
A few of my students used the Chromebook over holidays / weekends etc and were well impressed also. Portablility, simplicity and the outstanding battery life were the main advantages, according to them. But the need for always-on, fast internet access is a drawback, not sure if we're ready for that yet.
The latest update to V.19 (today) gives the Chromebook a "Desktop" a Windows-like taskbar and re-sizable windows - this more familiar look may make it more appealing to new users.
It would be great to see them adopted in Irish schools, but 2 things need to happen first: 100MB/s broadband & a drop in cost.
