Hi guys

Can anyone recommend software that can be used to isolate an individual in a video file i.e.: isolate an individual by circling them.

I have looked at Camtasia, Active Presenter and Ezvid but as far as I could establish, once you insert the circle it remains for the remainder of the timeline.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I would really appreciate any help on this.

Many thanks

Íde

If your just trying to highlight an individual for a brief moment maybe you could just do a quick zoom in and zoom out to them. Might not suit your purposes but could be the easiest thing to do.

Hi Cormac

I want to run the file as a video which captures individuals in a group. Would zoom work in that timeline?

You'd only be able to zoom into one at a time. If you wanted to highlight a few at the same time that wouldn't work so well. I'll ask around and see if anyone has any ideas.

Hi Íde

this can be done in Final Cut Pro X on a Mac, afraid I don't know of a PC alternative for this.

Good tutorial video here http://vimeo.com/29233416

Hi Íde,

I’ve found Sony Vegas a great editor to introduce to teachers – IMHO 80% as good as FCP / Premiere but 20% as challenging to use. There are various ‘flavours’ starting from $49 if memory serves …

This is how you’d do it with Vegas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edR8di3ucrg

Ádh mór leis!

Kindest Regards,

Hi Íde,
A cheat's way to do it if the function is not in your software: use a 'circle closing transition' and when it gets to that frame as it closes, trim the frame and duplicate it?
Then increase the time on that duplicated clip.

Best wishes,
