Air play

Hi folks,
Can anyone tell me why the air play button won't show on my
iPad ? I'm trying to use it in conjunction with my interactive whiteboard .

Anytime that has happened to me it was because the iPad was sitting on the network correctly.

Are you connected in school?

Are you using school wifi?

Is the Apple TV connected to the same network as the iPad ?

When it comes to the reflector app you have to make sure it's running on your computer.
It took me an age to get it going, once it's running it tell the network the location of the PC that way if the iPad is on the same network you'll be able to engage the airplay button. This also means that if your outside the room you can hijack the projector from outside ( I didn't say that :)
If you still can't get it going let me know and I'll set reflector on my laptop and walk you through it.
Try and think about it as connecting the iPad to the computer not the projector.

I don't really use pcs but I was installing reflector on one today (windows 7 I think). It seemed to me after it was installed I had to open it twice to get it and he ipad to see each other. Also on the mac version of reflector there is an option to password protect it. I'm sure it's the same on windows??

Password protection is a must but I know that human nature being what it is means sometimes we always don't set up the passwords and if this is the case then devilment will follow ....
Although reflector does get some great reviews, dare I say it..... , It's not the most stable app in the world so I agree completely, try opening it more then once.

Agreed, find it very dodgy sometimes.  Bad wifi leads to awful Reflector.  Having said that it's a good, quick and cheap alternative to Apple TV

Brian,

You have to have either an AppleTV connected to your whiteboard or (cheaper and quicker option) install Reflector App on the PC connected to the whiteboard.  Reflector costs about €12. http://www.airsquirrels.com/reflector/
