also,the legal substantial changes note.
Dear Phichai,My apologies for taking so long to get back to you on this. As Patricia has mentioned, I was on vacation for a week followed by a trip to Frankfurt and Amsterdam for meetings. I am back in the Berlin office now and had a chance to review the most recent license drafts for Thailand which you have kindly sent. Please see below two more comments which I would like to discuss with you.BY-SA:Definition of the "Creative Commons Compatible license" also needs to include the "unported" license:"Creative Commons Compatible License" means a license that is listed at http://creativecommons.org/compatiblelicenses that has been approved by Creative Commons as being essentially equivalent to this License, including, at a minimum, because that license: (i) contains terms that have the same purpose, meaning and effect as the License Elements of this License; and, (ii) explicitly permits the relicensing of derivatives of works made available under that license under this License or either a Creative Commons unported license or a Creative Commons jurisdiction license with the same License Elements as this License.
Also, the compatibility structure in section 4.2.3 has to explicitly allow (and therefore mention) the Creative Commons Compatible license:"(4.2.3) either the Creative Commons (unported) license or a Creative Commons jurisdiction license (either this or a later license version) that contains the same License Elements as this License or a Creative Commons Compatible license;..."BY-NC-ND:Section 4.3.3: The term "and" in the end of the first sentence (first paragraph) of section 4.3.3 can be deleted, I guess. This might only be a small oversight in the English retranslation but I wanted to bring it up.Thank you so much for your all your time and work on this. I suggest that you amend the documents one more time and send them to me before start working on the xhtml files? The final version of the English retranslation would be extremely valuable for our work and also others who are interested in details of the Thai licenses. Please let me know what you think?Thank you again for your patience. I look forward to seeing the Thai licenses alive!Best,Catharina..............................................................................Dr. Catharina MarackeDirector, Creative Commons InternationalBerlin:Gipsstrasse 1210119 BerlinPhone: +49-30-28 09 39 09Fax: +49-30-28 09 39 10Tokyo:Joi Ito's Lab (DGIncubation)Lotus Calyx 102, 2-22-3 Jiyugaoka,Meguro-ku, Tokyo 152-0035Phone: +81-80-35903424
Dear Phichai, many thanks for your prompt reply. Also thank you for amending the licenses according to my suggestions. Just one more comment why I think it would be necessary to have the "unported" also mentioned in section 1 (3) of the share alike: The definition in section 1 (3) states that these "compatibility" structure at a minimum includes "this license", another jurisdiction license or the "unported" with the same elements:.....at a minimum, because that license: (i) contains terms that have the same purpose, meaning and effect as the License Elements of this License; and, (ii) explicitly permits the relicensing of derivatives of works made available under that license under this License or either a Creative Commons unported license or a Creative Commons jurisdiction license with the same License Elements as this License.
It is very important to have these minimum standards included completely in the defintion - you also mentioned another jurisdiction license so the "unported" has to be mentioned as well. Would you please amend it before working on the xhtml? And then, yes, please start with the xhtml files. I am also keen on seeing the Thai licenses ready and launched!Thank you very much!
Dear Phichai,Thank you very much for sending the latest version of the Thai BY-SA! It looks fine to me and since we have already agreed on the other licenses, I am very happy to give you the final "go" to move forward and start with the xhtml files. Nathan will then upload them on our staging server for final proofreading. Before they go finally live, we would need you to double check all of them again and sign of (I will also read through them again but I since I don't understand Thai, it will be more a check for missing fullstops or numerations etc...). Once we have your approval to the files on the staging server, Nathan can press the magic button and turn them on.It would also be great if you could follow up with Michelle regarding the announcement (such as press release, blog post etc) of the launch of the Thai licenses.I am very happy about this big step forward and I would like to say thank you very much for all your time on this.Best,Catharina

Dear PH,
We will take care of the press release and the launch event for you. May be by the end of November? The idea is also to bring many people using CC already in their creative works both online and offline. So that it's more fun and community-driven. Is that ok?
