.htaccess help

I wanted to start off by saying I'm very excited about the direction
of TiddlyWiki and in particular ccTiddly. I work in cultural
anthropology and have loved the features of TW but have had concerns
about LOTS of information. (Hence my excitement for a PHP/SQL version
of TW)

So you know, I don't write PHP or Javascript, but I have a decent
knowledge of how scripting languages work and am fairly knowledgeable
about the find/replace function. :P (I have also put together a
customized Joomla website.)

Okay, I am running XAMPP with Apache HTTPD 2.2.9, MySQL 5.0.51b and
PHP 5.2.6. I had the problem with the ccVariables window.url not
getting the correct path, so I entered it in manually. Moreover, the
only way I could access the site was by commenting out all the lines
in the .htaccess.

As of right now it's just in the test bed of XAMPP so for now it's not
a problem. However, I plan to get the site onto a public webserver and
would like some direction as to having a functional .htaccess file.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Joey,

For information on how to get mod-rewrite and .htaccess files working
take a look at the below post :

Let me know if that helps.

Manually changing the ccVariables tiddler is not a good idea because
it stores your login state. By overriding the tiddler you will also
be overriding your login state. You may not be able to log out.

Can I suggest for the time being you delete the ccVariables tiddler
(from the TiddlyWiki UI)

Other people have mentioned similar issues when running ccTiddly in
the root folder of their web server. I will try to investigate this
issue soon and get it fixed for 1.7.

In order to get window.url working can you try moving ccTiddly into a
sub folder.

eg

from :

127.0.0.1/

to

127.0.0.1/ccTiddly

Well, I fixed the window.url issue by replacing the ccVariable.php
with the original file, deleting the ccVariable tiddly through the
tiddlywiki UI and then put ccTiddly files into a folder called
"tiddly". Now my address is http://127.0.0.1/tiddly/; so that works
now!
However, I tried your suggestions with the .htaccess file and still
couldn't get it to run. =( So as of right now, my .htaccess file is
completely commented out.
I have an earlier version of XAMPP; should I give that a whirl? I can
just back up my data and reinstall it. I don't know if that would help
though.

Oh, I figured I should put the error I was getting:
Server error!

I got that error and solved it by going to httpd.conf file in xampp/apache/conf  and removing the # from the line
LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

Yup that did it! By using the original .htaccess file that came with
ccTiddly 1.6.2 and uncommenting the line in httpd.conf it worked just
fine. I also restarted XAMPP for good measure. (Though I'm not sure if
that was a necessary step.)
