The 2009 Survey of the Jewish Next Generation of the South Peninsula

Who are the Jews of the next generation?  What are your interests? Your passions?  Your concerns?  Hopes?  Expectations?  What do you want out of your Jewish lives in the South Peninsula?

We want to know, and we’re inviting you to tell us in “The 2009 Survey of the Jewish Next Generation of the South Peninsula.”

No matter how you define yourself as “Jewish” or “Young,” we’d like you to spend a few minutes with our survey, filling it out and telling us what you think, what you feel, what you hope, and what you’d like to see in your community.

To take the survey, please click on this link, or cut-and-paste it into your web-browser.  <http://bit.ly/SouthPen>

If you’ve already filled out the survey, thank you.  And please feel free to circulate this email and the link among your friends.

The survey has been commissioned by the South Peninsula Council of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties.  Dr. Ari Y Kelman and Dr. Tobin Belzer are conducting the survey and are sharing duties as the Principal Investigator.

Participants who complete the survey may enter their name to win a new iPod Nano (with video!) or $50 gift certificates to Amazon.

Your answers will be treated confidentially.  If you choose to enter the drawing, your email will only be used to contact winners.  That means that we will never share your identity or individual answers with anyone.

We’ll be sharing the compiled results of the survey with you as soon as they are ready for distribution. Should you have any comments, write Dr. Kelman or Dr. Belzer directly at ayke...@ucdavis.edu or tbe...@usc.edu

We thank you for your time,

Dr. Ari Y Kelman, UC Davis

Dr. Tobin Belzer, USC

Lunch & Blessed is the Match at SVJFF

12:30pm, Sunday, October 25, 2009
House of Siam, 151 S. 2nd Steet, San Jose, Ca

Join Jews’ Next Dor and T’keya for the Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival.  We are going to see “Blessed Is the Match” which is the story of Hannah Sennesh, a hero of Israel.  She served in World War II and in 1944 she was sent on a secret mission to Hungary, where she was captured and subjected to unimaginably brutal interrogation at the hands of the Hungarian police and later the collaborationist Arrow Cross.  She refused, even unto death by firing squad, to betray her comrades or her mission.  This docudrama is the definitive story of her life and legacy.

Roberta Grossman, award-winning director and producer of the film will be on hand to answer questions about the film after its viewing.  This is a special event!

Jews’ Next Dor has a block of tickets. You must RSVP via e-mail (JewsN...@beth-david.org) to reserve a ticket with our group.  The movie is Sunday, October 25 at 3:00pm at the Camera 12 Theatre in San Jose.  Tickets are $11/each (very limited $9 student tickets available with our group) and you will need to pay Aleeza for your ticket.

We will be meeting for vegetarian/dairy  lunch at 12:30pm at the House of Siam Thai Restaurant which is next to the theatre (151 S. 2nd Street, San Jose) for those who want to socialize before the film.  Please let us know if you’ll be joining us for lunch.  If you are not joining for lunch, please meet at the entrance to the theatre at 2:30pm SHARP to receive your ticket and sit with the group.
