Subject: Tuesday is the 1st Ramadhan
11:19pm EST
Ramadhan will start Tuesday, September 2nd 2008.

The month of Shabaan will complete with the 30th day being Monday
September 1st.  This is based on no confirmed sighting of the new moon
in North America.  You can see the various websites that have also not
received any confirmed sightings in the "Links->Moonsighting" sections
on our website.

Monday night we will have our first Taraveeh Inshallah.  Isha will
start at 9:07pm Monday night and  Taraveeh will start immediately
afterwards.

Please check the "Download -> Ibadath" section for upcoming pamphlets
on:
- Recommended Ibadath throughout Ramadan
- Nightly Summaries of the Quran coinciding with Taraveeh in 27 part
- Recommended Ibadath for Lail-atul-Qadr
- History of Taraveeh: 8 vs 20

There are still no confirmed reports of moonsighting in North America
at this time.

Locally, some brothers went moonsighting but did not see the moon
tonight.
Please check our website throughout the evening for our Announcement
on moon sighting and the start of Ramadhan.

If the moon is sighted tonight, Taraveeh will be at the Cary Masjid.
It will be 20 rakaths but short in length.

Today, Sunday the 31st of August is the 29th day of Shabaan. This is
based on the start of Shabaan being the 3rd of August in North
America.

The links we used are now on our website under the "Links" tab on the
left side of the homepage. We used these to determine the start of
Shabaan back in early August so that we can accurately perform Ibadath
on the 15th of Shabaan, the blessed Nifs-e-Shabaan's Shab-e-Baraath,
being the night of Saturday August 16.

This evening, night of August 31st, one should attempt to sight the
moon to determine the start of Ramadan. Inshallah we will do the same
and then make an announcement, at the latest, after the moon has set
in western part of North America.  We hope to provide an announcement
around 11:30pm at the latest, but stay tuned.

To be informed of our announcement, we kindly request you sign up for
the mailing list by either a) emailing us your email address or by
signing up for our mailing list on our website.
