Today I released version 2.1 alpha 5, the first packaged version in
the 2.1 trunk (equivalent to SVN revision 317 of the trunk).

This version is the first installable version for the upcoming 2.1
version. Although it is still missing the front-end updating code, it
is a fully installable version of the system GUI (all the back-end
updating code is written, so the system can now bootstrap itself). If
you install this version on a system you will be able to upgrade to
future 2.1 beta versions with minimal effort.

The release date for version 2.1 has been set to June 9th; I am not
planning to add new features at this point, but to keep working on the
front-end updating system, testing and documentation. The CD version
of the system (including operating system, etc.) is planned for the
middle of June.
