Vote for Tree Pittsburgh to Receive $2000
Vote for Seedlings in Schools here!
Tree Pittsburgh is in the running to receive $2000 from GOOD Magazine's GoodMaker program. If funded, Tree Pittsburgh will take its urban forestry education to local schools, and teach students about urban forestry, species & genetic diversity, invasive pests, and how to raise a tree from seed, to be planted in future local restoration plantings. We appreciate your vote! Share this link with your friends and social networks! You can vote once per email address, and voting ends Wednesday May 30th. |

Gardening in Your Tree Pit
When a new tree is planted, 30square feet of potential new planting space comes with it. Planting in the tree pit is wonderful, as long as you remember that the tree's health comes first!
Read Tree Pittsburgh's tips for Tree Pit Plantings here.
Tree Pit Gardens:
- Reduce dog waste in tree pits,
- Discourage littering in tree pits,
- Prevent cyclists from locking to trees,
- Look great!
- And remind you to water your tree and the new plants.

Water Your Trees!
It is going to be hot this weekend, and Pittsburgh's last observed rainfall was less than half an inch on May 13th. Give your trees a nice drink now (and anytime it is this dry) to enjoy shade all summer!
Newly planted young trees need about 40 gallons of water per week, which is equivalent to one inch of rain. Get out the hose and give trees a drink.
