Our gaming group is hosting an interactive panel at an upcoming local
convention (OMGcon) titled "RPG Myths, Lies, & Misconceptions." It is
basically a very simple timeline walkthrough of how and why RPGs
(mostly D&D with it's name recognition) began to get bad rep. Stuff
that I'm sure everyone in the group knows. The classic walk through
from Steam Tunnels to Pat Pulling to Jack Chick to Rod Ferrell.
Anyways, we'll be covering the very basics (a lot of what we'll cover
is pretty much found here:
http://ogres.wikia.com/wiki/RPG_Myths ).
We just would like to ask if anyone has done this kind of thing
before, and what their tips or ideas were. Or if anyone thought of
something we should be sure to include.
The basic goal is, as we're having many members of the non-gaming
region in attendance (mostly pastors, though a couple of school
guidance counselors have confirmed too), is to enlighten people on how
they probably have misconceptions based on incorrect and in-some-cases
outright false press.
