Couldn't we also do something here in SFe -- a public outreach? Maybe at St. John's (soccer field)?

I will be setting up a variety of equipment on the roof deck of the science building at St. John’s; anyone who wants to come is welcome.
I don’t think there’s enough space up there to make it a real public outreach event; the soccer field would be better for that, though I’m not sure how good the viewing is from there. Probably OK.

I think we could handle up to 50 or so on the roof. As long as we don’t announce it in the New Mexican, we should be OK.

Great event Sunday evening, that you arranged. Wonderful location on top of the Science bldg, with super views of the eclipse and the beautiful Jemez.
Never would have expected such a huge crowd (someone said over 100 people). Fun time.
I know everyone appreciates all your efforts on this.

The turnout certainly surprised me! I thought maybe a dozen or so.
I’ve attached a photo of the eclipse just at the moment when the ring was completed, projected through the Keplerian eclipse instrument and a 7mm opening. This may be the first time ever that an annular eclipse has been observed using Kepler’s setup.

Would have liked to have seen some of the annular through a 'scope at high power. Wonder if you'd see solar flares/prominences, etc, better -- or at all?
