Regarding right-clicking: Do you mean you would like to be able to open a
link in a tab just by right-clicking the link, without using (or even
seeing) the context menu?

Have you considered using a mouse with programmable buttons and assigning one of the buttons to Command-click? I have a Magic Mouse, and with BetterTouchTool I have assigned double-tap to Command-click. It works like a charm when I want to open a link in a new tab. What do you think of that?

It is accomplished. In LinkThing 1.0.8, you can now right-click a link to
open it in a new tab (or to open it in the current tab if opening link in
new tabs by default). You will find the option in the preferences window.
