Hi all,

I'll be on CBC radio on Sunday (and in a TLC/Discovery Channel documentary
to be filmed on Thursday) discussing whether our exploration of space
should be conducted entirely by robots (it shouldn't, in my opinion). I
would really like to hear your thoughts on the following questions, please:

1 - do you think Space Station is a good use of our monies and energy at
this time? Do you fear we will simply lose interest in the space
expansion with the go slow approach (SS, then Moon and then eventually to
Mars)? Should we instead be working on something like the "Mars Direct" 10
year program?

2 - Are we as a society being too cautious with the go slow approach? It
strikes me that Columbus, Magellan, etc would never have left Europe with
the current "no one must die" approach NASA, etc are taking. Exploration
is dangerous; the astronauts know it and are prepared to take the risk. Is
the human "physiology studies" that we "must" perform on SS just another
example of our risk paranoia or must we really go so slow?

Hope to hear from you folks soon!
