Considering that the Canadian Forces offered to assist with Katrina, and
quite a few members of Vancouver Fire and Rescue went to New Orelands to
help out.
In addition, it's not uncommon for Canadian resources to be used in major
forest fires in the Western United States.
If there are materiel and personnel available for use during times of
natural disaster in the southwestern parts of B.C. from
Fort Lewis and Yakima Army Base, it would make sense to ask for those rather
than waiting for CF resources from Cold
Lake Alberta (the closest large CF Army resources).
You have to be absolutely nuts to believe that the U.S. Army would pour
across the border and over ride CF management of disaster services here. It
would be a co-operative effort with the CF Command taking the lead, and US
Army resources would be working alongside the Seaforth and Westminster
Regiments in terms of major disaster management.
You obvously don't know how major disaster management works, do you? In
British Columbia, it is handled by the
Provincial Emergency Programme, with assistance from the federal govenrment
in Ottawa, not Washington D.C.
if the federal government asks the U.S. government for disaster assistance,
why not if our resources are stretched out to

The next step beyond asking for the U.S. government for disaster assistance
is to ask the International Red Cross, but
