Absolutely -- and the more graceful you are at laughing at the moment
and at yourself, the more hearts you win. If you are going into a
photo-op with a bunch of finger-painting kinds, you have to be a moron
to get uptight about getting a bit of paint on your suit.
Earth to Harper and his clueless handlers:
Finger paint is WATER BASED, and is designed to be easy to clean.
For most parents deterring kids with dirty hands from touching things they
shouldn't is just automatic reaction... you do it about 100 times day. If
you're successful you save having to clean up another big mess. I am
certainly no Harper fan but I think it's sleazy to pick a quote like that
and use it to characterize someone as a unfriendly cold ogre. Not fair,
because saying such things like "don't touch me [with paint on your hands]"
is all part of being in an environment with children.

I agree.
But Harper wasn't there in his capacity as a parent, he was there for a
photo-op with paint covered kids. This is just another example of him
letting down the Tory party with his political ineptness. If he had
let the kid touch him and had just looked at the camera, pointed at the
paint and laughed, you would have seen hundreds of thousands of
Canadians think "The guy's human after all..."
After Terry Pearson and Ross John Lambourn, Harper is Paul Martin's
greatest political asset.
Maybe someone sprung an inappropriate foto-op on him. Ever consider that?

From wool? Hmmm.
But then -- only SH makes mistakes -- never the PM.
Learned about un-earned revenue yet? WHen will you be replying to the
other thread?

A liberal -- but definitely not a (shudder) Liberal.
But some people just don't want to miss a single opportunity to /smear/
Harper. Why deny them this opportunity? It keeps them amused, occupied
and away from adult toys.

So you're saying the makers of "Rugrats in Paris" really hate kids?
A big Harper fan are you? Criticism of Harper seems to sting a bit. You
don't seem so sensitive when other politicians are under the lamp.
And you call yourself a liberal. It's interesting to watch who you defend.
I'm thinking this guy can't possibly be John Angus. >Archie

You take it. You get paint on your suit. You laugh about it.
It seems to me that if Harper can't even handle a child who is painting then
just what kind of a prime minister will he make? Just look at the track
record...
He himself was far too negative in attacking the Liberal government on the
Gomery Inquiry,
He very rarely spoke publically about Tory policy,
He was outright vicious towards Stronach when she efected to the Liberals,
He conspired with the BQ to bring the H of C to standstill,
He was very quick to pronounce Tory support for the Liberal budget and then
remained silent on the matter until the vote in the Commons.
The Liberals are bad enough, who in hell wants Stephen Harper as our next
Prime Minister? He would make Arthur Meighen look like one of the all time
greatest!
Glen
And was the rugrat in question was being played by one of Stronach's kids?
:-)
Glen
Or wear a smock and join the kids in having a little fun. In other words
look human, something Harper doesn't come across as.

I guess you can be dishonest and project well, or honest (maybe?) and
come across as a schmuck.
What do we have to do to get some political leaders where what you see
is what you get and what you get is good for the country? Sigh...
Cute!
Wish I'd thought of that one.
Assuming that I agree with you on what you said -- what are the
alternatives Glen?
A harper fan? I think not archie. If that's what you surmise -- then
well -- good luck with comprehension 101. A single post does not an
opinion make.

I figure we should defend people being unfairly maligned -- regardless
of stripe. Ethics first archie. Simple enuff?

No, I'm me -- who are you?
Where's Veronica? :-)
My daily laugh. :-)
Actually it was. I have a couple similar -- they ain't cheap!
Part of the corporate schmoozing costume.
On a more serious note, let me ask you this Will. Did you giggle after you
wrote that? >Archie

Precisely.
Don't it just sting when they criticize Steebie?

Certainly not.
Who is steebie? Why should it sting?
Maybe you can answer the question Archie baby...

The current cast of alternatives are: Paul Martin and Jack Layton. Not that
may not be the best alternatives, but surely even you must agree that even a
perceived lack of alternatives is NOT a reason to vote for a party whose
leader is demonstrating he's not PM material.
