child pornography on the Internet. The government proposed legislation
Wednesday that would make it illegal to view child pornography on a
computer screen, punishable by up to five years in prison.
It is already illegal in Canada, as well as in the United States and
many other countries, to possess child pornography by downloading it
off the Internet -- but the Canadian legislation is believed to go
further than any other by outlawing the act of viewing child porn. ...

Bill introduces new cyber-exploitation laws

OTTAWA (CP) -- Cyberstalkers who lure children and access child
pornography
through the Internet would face severe prison sentences under proposed
legislation introduced Wednesday in the Commons.
The proposed measure is part of omnibus legislation tabled by Justice
Minister Anne McLellan that includes changes to the Criminal Code
addressing everything from stalking and home invasions to protection of
children.

Another new charge would be accessing -- the act of viewing a Web site,
for example, that contains child pornography -- which would carry a
maximum sentence of five years.
