Position: Cognos Developer
Location; Toronto
Contract: 8 Months

Experience in Cognos 10.x or Experience in Cognos 8.x and training in Cognos 10.x
Experience in Business Analysis
Demonstrated experience in implementing a Cognos solution from design through development and testing

Demonstrated skills in:
?Cognos Framework Modelling using Cognos Framework Manager with both relational and dimensional models
?Cognos Report Authoring
Understanding of Data Modelling for Business Intelligence including:
?Understanding of Star and Snowflake schema
?Understanding of Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes to transform data for reporting/BI purposes
?Ability to define schema for reporting databases
?Ability to develop specifications for ETL developers
?Knowledge of PowerDesigner for data modeling
Knowledge of Cognos 10.x Security Architecture
Experience working in both Windows and Unix environments
Knowledge of how to develop reporting and BI interface products in conformance with WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines
Demonstrated experience in providing Knowledge Transfer to other Cognos developers
Demonstrated problem solving skills used in resolving defects found in testing of reports and models
Demonstrated experience in performance tuning in Business Intelligence applications
Experience using Oracle SQL, Oracle PL/SQL as used in the development of Business Intelligence applications
Experience with OPS including the Enterprise Architecture process and required deliverables
Experience with development of BI solution as part of application development and deployment having formal change and release management processes
Experience in Quality Assurance methods

Qualifications:
Business Analysis
Demonstrated communication skills in interacting with both business and technical resources
Ability to reconcile business expression to system logic
Understanding of datasets and ability to express issues with diagrams/matrices to facilitate a resolution
Knowledge of lean practices

BI Data Modelling/ETL
Understanding of Data Modelling for Business Intelligence including:
a.Understanding of Star and Snowflake schema
b.Understanding of Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes to transform data for reporting/BI purposes
c.Ability to define schema for reporting databases
d.Ability to develop specifications for ETL developers

COGNOS Framework Modelling/Report Authoring
Demonstrated skills in:
a.Cognos Framework Modelling using Cognos Framework Manager with both relational and dimensional models
b.Cognos Report Authoring

COGNOS 10.x
Experience in Cognos 10.x or Experience in Cognos 8.x and training in Cognos 10.x; Knowledge of Cognos 10.x Security Architecture

Oracle SQL
Experience using Oracle SQL, Oracle PL/SQL as used in the development of Business Intelligence applications. Demonstrated skills in creating Oracle PL/SQL for reporting

Performance Tuning
Demonstrated experience in performance tuning of Business Intelligence applications

Quality Assurance/Testing
Demonstrated experience in defining and executing tests across the spectrum (unit testing, system testing, user acceptance testing)
